When digital technology has come to be a part of human life, the past academic groups that have been separated for a long time, such as biological science and physical science, can be combined into biomedical engineering, computer-aided medicine, or deep technology in healthcare. Therefore, what happens in the 21st Century will completely change the medical structure. With nearly 100 percent confidence, the process of traditional research will be replaced by Big Data. Medical records will be replaced by real-time data from smartwatches which will send all-time vital signals and others to the center. The technology of image processing and artificial intelligence will help diagnose disease through a CCTV image through walking motion in Parkinson’s disease or even Alzheimer’s disease. Mobile phones will diagnose skin cancer, and read blood sugar levels, X-ray films, or even tissue pathology.
In the next era, surgical robots will help create new surgical procedures that have minimal tissue damage, small or no wounds at all. Doctors will be able to simulate surgery with a computer before the actual surgery or be able to perform surgery from a distance, etc. It can be said that the next generation of healthcare systems will be completely disrupted by many new computerized technologies.
The Asian Society of Computer Aided Surgery (ASCAS) is established in conjunction with the Japan Society of Computer Aided Surgery (JSCAS), by many professors from the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Kyushu University, and other universities in Asia such as from China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. The society has organized an annual conference circulating throughout the member countries. The 7th meeting, ACCAS 2011, was held in Bangkok, Thailand. In the past, the content of the meeting tended to focus on technical engineering in the surgical field.
The 18th Asian Conference on Computer Aided Surgery (ACCAS 2022) has now been schedule on August 24-26, 2022 and Khon Kaen University will organize conference by a group of medical academics, biomedical engineering, and computer science, while receiving cooperation from all relevant parties in the name of Thailand. The theme of this year’s conference remains “Deep Technology in Surgery and Healthcare.” The conference topics will be open for all modern computer-aided in the healthcare system, especially in deep technology. We hope that this conference will be a forum for in-depth medical technology exchange, relationship building, research collaboration and encouragement of young medical scientists among international group members.
We cordially invite everyone to come and join together in this conference. See you in Khon Kaen, Thailand!
The Asian Conference on Computer Aided Surgery (ACCAS) series provides a forum for academic researchers, clinical scientists, surgeons, and industrial partners to exchange new ideas, techniques, and the latest developments in the field.
The ACCAS is also interested in promoting collaboration among people from different disciplines and different countries in Asia and the world.
Submissions of original works are encouraged within the broad areas of interest of CAI and specifically in following themes.
Scope of ACCAS is in both engineering and clinical application of computer aided surgery field, where encompasses all fields within surgery, as well as biomedical imaging / instrumentation, and digital technology employed as an adjunct to imaging in diagnosis, therapeutics, and surgery.
